What Causes Acne?
What causes acne is a question that is sought out by millions and will not necessarily be the same for everyone. Research has pinpointed one of the reasons is due to Hormonal disorder. In this page I will discuss how hormones and acne interlink.

Hormonal Acne Treatment
Androgen hormones also known as the male hormones are naturally produced by both male and female, naturally, male bodies produce more of it. That's why acne is more common amongst males. The hormonal level, testosterone to be precise, can get high depending on a variety of factors. Producing high levels of testosterone is not necessarily a bad thing... it can actually be good in some cases. Testosterone can increase red blood cell production, energy and libido, but if not properly filtered by the liver and other organs to create a balance, it can create some problems like hormonal acne.

What Causes Acne? HORMONES ....
Many would state that hormones is what causes acne. Which is partially true but definitely not the only cause of acne. Hormones are just one of many causes of acne. The Hormones such as androgen's, are produced by the ovaries for females and by the cells in Testes in Males. These hormones are also produced by the adrenal glands( two glands that sit right above the kidney's) The more androgen hormones and toxin present the harder the liver and other organs have to work to neutralize your system to find a that healthy balance.
The reasoning behind why people think that testosterone is what causes acne is because testosterone stimulates the sebaceous glands in the skin. Testosterone enlarges the sebaceous gland (which is a small pocket in your skin that produces oil) in turn creating more sebum (oil) and thus can be the answer to what causes acne.
What causes acne is blocked pores... Skin deep
Sebaceous glands produce sebum, which is an oily secretion that protects and moisturizes the skin in normal skin conditions. Sebaceous glands are scattered all over your body except for the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. These glands are mostly concentrated on the upper body (face, neck, scalp, chest and back). If the hair follicle which is the pores in your skin where hair grows out of; its the tiny holes where sweat, toxins, dead skin cells and other bacteria all are excreted from your bodies insides, if this is blocked the sebum (oil) and other bacteria's can not get through to exit the skin and will therefore be trapped resulting in the inflammation of the overlying skin i.e.( pimple, zit) This is what causes acne breakouts; blocked pores. ***Did you know that Testosterone increases you sex drive***
How do pores get blocked ?
Hair follicles (pores) shed just as your skin sheds to renew themselves. During your teenage years acne is more common because your body creates more of the testosterone hormone. Skin sheds, and so does the hair follicles much more frequently in teens then as an adult. So when your hair follicles shed, combined with an over production of sebum, and other bacteria's and toxins your body wants to dispose of, the natural mechanism is to excrete the material out of your follicles to the surface of your skin. If the surface of your skin is blocked by either dead skin cells (from shedding) or blocked pores because too much sebum and other bacteria is trying to move out at the same time, well, you guessed it... you have a clogged pore and as a result you will get acne blemishes. A recommended practice if you have fairly healthy skin is to try a facial peel, it will help renew your skin and unclog the outer surface of the pores preventing blockage, it will give you a fresh and younger look. Chemical Peels
What causes acne can be different for each individual:
For some people under medications or hormonal treatments, that might be the very cause of acne. Many drugs, such as those administered in hormone replacement therapy, affect hormonal levels. Illnesses like polycystic ovary syndromes can also be related to hyperandrogenism one of the answers to what causes acne. In addition, stressful situations can be the cause of acne breakouts since there is spike in androgen hormones when a person experiences mental distress.
The answer to what causes acne may be as diverse as the people affected by it. If you really want to dive to see the research on the different factors involved in the causes of acne see the links below.
