Tea Tree Oil Products

When buying tea tree oil products make sure you check the ingredients. Be aware if any tea tree oil products do not have the ingredients listed when buying tea tree oil products. Below you will be informed of what standards to look for when purchasing high quality tea tree oil.

Tea Tree Oil Standards:

To get the essential oil of Melaleuca Alternifolia the leaves of the tree should be steamed and distilled.

In 1985 the Australian government agreed upon a set standard for tea tree oil. The standard for good melaleuecea alternifolia should consist of 30% (at minimum) Terpinen, terpinen-4-ol and no more then 5% Cineol 1,8-cineol.

Best Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil also known as Melaleucea Alternifolia oil is a clear pale and slightly golden in color. It’s known for its healing powers, the two main substances are Terpinen and Cineol. Ingredients depend on the quality of soil and climate of the area.

Most consumers may think that the higher concentration of an active ingredient equals higher quality. Naturally Tea tree oil contains anywhere form 2 to 65% cineol. The lower concentration of cineol equals the better quality of tea tree oil.

Tea Tree oil in Northern Australia namely New South Wales contain more teroinen-4-ol and a low percentage of cineol. Therefore the tea tree oil in this region has better healing qualities then other regions such as South Australia where tea tree oil comes from Port Macquarie. In the South Australian region the tea tree oil has a higher cineol percentage.

High Quality Tea Tree Oil Ingredients:

High quality Tree Oil should contain 2.5% alpha-pinen, 3.9% para-cymen, 24.6% gamma-terpine, 42.1% terpinen-4-ol, 9.1 alph-terpinen, 4.3 1,8-cineol, 2.3% alpha-terpineol and 4.1% terpinolen
