Milk Thistle Acne Treatment
The search for a credible treatment of acne goes far beyond treating the skin. In fact, many believe that the root to acne treatment lies with the liver, not antibiotics or other drugs used to treat the skin. For the purpose of acne treatment and general health of the liver, milk thistle is a highly recommended herb. When the
liver
is damaged for whatever reason, the function is obviously compromised. This means that toxins and chemicals that need to be cleared out of the blood, broken down, or converted into inactive substances aren't, therefore stalling the natural liver detoxification process. Milk thistle works because it is a potent antioxidant which works by increasing the levels of glutathione in the liver. Glutathione is a compound that metabolizes and detoxifies noxious substances in the liver. Milk thistle is also a great liver cleanse because its rich in flavonoids which stimulate production of new liver cells. These new liver cells help restore function to the liver and overtime making a healthier liver. Flavonoids are nutrients from plants, that we consume from fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids trigger the production of natural enzymes that are responsible for fighting diseases in our body. Milk thistle can be purchased as a capsule or seed form. Capsules should be taken 2 to 3 times a day and more if suffering from severe liver problems (e.g. have hepatitis or another liver disease in addition to acne). ***The seed form of milk thistle should be crushed or chewed, 1 tablespoon, 2 to 3 times a day.*** ***Milk thistle can have a laxative effect*** ***For maximum liver detoxification, take milk thistle along with dandelion and burdock root.***
