Finding an Effective Acne Scar Vitamin Treatment

Acne scars can have a tremendous impact on an individual's self esteem, in some cases the affected avoids social gatherings and activities. There are several treatment options for acne scars ranging from lasers to natural treatments. In this section we are going to discuss the myths and facts on acne scar vitamin treatments.

Vitamin E has been marketed as a miraculous acne scar vitamin treatment, however, there is no evidence that indicates its effectiveness when applied directly on acne scars or any type of scar for that matter, in fact some studies show negative effects like contact dermatitis caused by this acne scar vitamin treatment. Consumer beware, not everything that shines is gold, there is no proof that Vitamin E will make acne scars disappear.

Supplements: Some companies and websites promote the idea that taking a vitamin E supplement will help reduce the appearance of acne scars on your entire body, not just your face. Some will even claim that by using this acne scar vitamin treatment your scar tissue can regenerate, shrink and even heal completely over time, the fact is that there is no conclusive evidence for this claim.

Creams and Oils: Skin reactions, such as contact dermatitis and eczema, have been reported with topical vitamin E preparations used as acne scar vitamin treatment, such as ointments or even vitamin E containing-deodorants. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is derived from two sources: preformed retinoids and pro vitamin carotenoids. Retinoids are found in animal sources like eggs, liver, kidney, and dairy produce. Carotenoids like beta-carotene are found in plants and vegetables such as sweet potatoes, carrots and broccoli leaves.

Vitamin A is important for maintaining healthy skin and better skin cell regeneration, some medications such as Isotretinoin found in prescriptions like Accutane reduce the production of sebum by the pores, as a consequence bacterial numbers in both the ducts and skin surface is reduced significantly. This helps with acne scars by preventing acne, Isotretinoin is a strong prescription with serious side effects, it should only be taken if prescribed by a Doctor.

There is no evidence for other benefits of vitamin A as a acne scar vitamin treatment. All vitamins are good for the body, but excess dosage can bring negative effects on the body.
